check it out. It was CFMoto but it was based on the KTM 790 Duke design. Look closely at this engine. photo: smooth sailing
“Middleweight Sports Naked” might seem like something you don’t want to look up on the internet, but it’s the most popular class in the Western motorcycle market right now. The newest player is CFMoto 800NK.
800NK counterparts such as Kawasaki’s Z650, Yamaha’s MT-07, Honda’s CB650 and KTM’s Duke 790 have been successful in this area. CFMoto also currently offers the 650NK. The 800cc engine adds power and acceleration in a small package.
Speaking of the KTM 790 Duke, everyone may know that Chunfeng Motorcycle has a very close relationship with KTM. The Chinese manufacturer’s 800NK is essentially a mirror image of the 790 Duke.
Here’s what we know so far! 800NK 799cc parallel twin-cylinder engine cc makes 99 or 100 horsepower peak, depending on where you read it, and 59.7 lb-ft of torque. Its upside-down forks end in four-cylinder J.Juan twin-piston calipers. The bike’s 57.7-inch wheelbase is fully suspended on KYB components and is fully adjustable at the front, with preload and rebound adjustable at the rear. Its total weight is 186 kg (410 lb), which is very light for a bike in this class.
Ride-by-wire means three riding modes (street, rain and sport), with the driver selecting the mode via a full color TFT instrument cluster.
CFMoto’s updated styling is a really cool V-shaped LED headlight in the “angry face” style we see on modern motorcycles. Like it or not, the ability to design lighting with LEDs will only make us visible on the road. Instead of a single light bulb in a round body, we use interesting and unique shapes that distinguish us from the rest of the traffic. I know not everyone does this, but I love this trend.
We don’t know pricing for the 800NK yet, but it’s said to be coming to the US. We can get a rough idea by looking at the 650NK for about $6500 and the Duke 790 for $9200. American consumers won’t pay more for a CFMoto bike than a KTM, so I think it’s around $8,000.
